How to Find the Song Name From an Instagram Reel and Save It as MP3
The song name is usually one tap away on the Reel itself. When it isn't, a song recognition app can identify it, and ICANDL can save the Reel's sound as an MP3.

You hear a track in a Reel, you want it on repeat, and the caption says nothing about it. Most of the time the song name is already on the screen. When it isn't, a song recognition app can usually fill the gap. If you only need the sound from that one Reel, you can save it as an MP3 with ICANDL.
Where Instagram shows the song name
Every Reel has an audio label at the bottom, next to a small music note. When the creator picked a track from Instagram's music library, the label shows the song title and the artist. Tap it and Instagram opens the audio page. That page lists the full title, shows other Reels using the same sound, and has a button to save the audio inside the app.
Saving the audio there only adds it to your Instagram saved list. You can reuse it in your own Reel, but you can't play it outside Instagram or keep it as a file.
How to find a song on Instagram outside Reels
Songs show up in other places too, and each one has its own label:
- In a Story, the song appears as a music sticker or as a line under the username at the top. Tap it to see the title and artist.
- In a photo post with music, the song name runs under the username above the photo. Tap it to open the audio page.
- In your own saved list, open your profile, tap Saved and go to Audio to find songs you bookmarked earlier.
If you want the photo post's song as a file, ICANDL can save the photo together with its music as an MP4.
When the label says "Original audio"
"Original audio" means the creator recorded their own sound or uploaded a clip with music already mixed in. Instagram has no song data for it, so the label just repeats the creator's username.
To identify the music in that case:
- Play the Reel with the volume up.
- Open a song recognition app on another phone or on the same phone. Shazam does this, and so does the song search in the Google app.
- Let it listen for a few seconds while the music is clear of talking.
Recognition works best on released songs. A remix, a sped up edit, or a track with someone talking over it may not match. Reading the comments helps too, because someone has often asked the same question already.
Save the Reel's sound as an MP3
Once you know the song, you may still want the exact clip from the Reel, for example a sped up version that only exists there. ICANDL saves the sound of any public Reel as an MP3:
- Tap the Share icon on the Reel and choose Copy link.
- Open the Instagram audio downloader in your browser.
- Paste the link and tap Download.
- Choose "Download Audio Only (MP3)". The file saves as an MP3.
The result is the Reel's own soundtrack, so it has the same length as the clip and includes any voice or effects the creator added. If you want the complete song, use the name you found to look it up on a music service.
Things to keep in mind
ICANDL only reads public posts. A Reel from a private account will not load. The tool does not host or keep the files it processes, and you are responsible for how you use the audio you save. Music in Reels is usually copyrighted, so keep downloads for personal listening unless you have the rights.
For more on saving sound from Instagram, see how to download audio from an Instagram video link and how to set Reel audio as a ringtone. To cut only the chorus, the ringtone maker trims the Reel's sound to the seconds you choose.
