Instagram lets you add a song to a photo post, and the post plays that song while people look at it. Download the post with most tools, though, and you get a silent JPG. The music isn't part of the image file. Instagram keeps the photo and the song apart and plays them together in the app. ICANDL can put them back together for you as a short MP4 video.
Save the photo with its music
- Tap the Share icon (the paper plane) under the photo post and choose Copy link.
- Open the Instagram post with music downloader.
- Paste the link and tap Download.
- Tap "Download Photo + Music (MP4)".
The video shows the photo for the whole song clip. The song starts at the same point Instagram plays it from and lasts as long as the clip on the post, usually 15 to 30 seconds. The MP4 plays in any gallery and can be sent in WhatsApp or posted as a Story.
It takes a few seconds longer than a normal download, because the video is built on the server when you tap the button.
When the button doesn't appear
The Photo + Music button shows only when Instagram returns the song together with the post. You'll see only the photo buttons when:
- the post has no music;
- the post is a Reel or a video, which already has sound (use "Download Video + Audio" for those);
- the song isn't available in the public data for that post, which happens with some licensed tracks and in some regions.
In the last case "Download Original Photo" still saves the picture in full size. To find the song, read how to find the song name from an Instagram Reel; the same tips work for photo posts.
Carousels with music
A carousel can carry one song for the whole post. ICANDL lists each photo separately, and each photo gets its own Photo + Music button. You save one video per photo, each with the song. To save all the photos as images instead, see downloading every photo from an Instagram carousel.
Picture quality
The photo is taken at the full size Instagram stores, and the video keeps that resolution. Instagram crops posts to its own shapes, so a portrait post stays portrait. For the plain image, the full size photo guide explains the options.
Rights
ICANDL works with public posts only and doesn't store the files it processes. The photo belongs to its creator and the song to its rights holder. Keep the video for yourself, and ask before you repost it.
