How to Save a Facebook Video to Your Gallery on Android
On Android a Facebook video is three taps away from your gallery. Copy the link, paste it into ICANDL in Chrome, and the MP4 lands in Downloads where the Gallery app finds it.
Updated
The Facebook app has no option that puts a video in your phone's gallery. Save keeps it in a list inside Facebook, and Share sends it to another app as a link. Android makes the rest easy, though: anything your browser downloads goes to one folder, and the gallery reads from it. You don't need a downloader app from the Play Store, many of which are full of ads and ask for permissions they don't need.
Copy the video link
Open the video or Reel in the Facebook app, tap Share and choose Copy link. If you're in the Facebook website, copy the address from the browser bar instead.
Download in Chrome
- Open Chrome and go to the Facebook video downloader.
- Paste the link into the box and tap Download.
- Tap "Download Video + Audio".
Chrome shows a notification when the file finishes downloading. Other browsers such as Samsung Internet, Firefox and Edge work the same way.
Find it in your gallery
The video is now in the Downloads folder on your phone's storage.
- In Samsung Gallery, open Albums and look for Download.
- In Google Photos, open Library (or Collections). Under Photos on device, open Download. If the album is new, Google Photos may ask whether to show it.
- In the Files app, open Downloads to see the file directly.
From the gallery you can trim the video, share it on WhatsApp or back it up like any other clip.
Other download options
The result screen has two more buttons. "Download Audio Only" saves the sound as an MP3, which suits speeches, sermons and music clips. "Download Video Only" saves the picture with the sound removed. All three come from the same link, so you can save more than one.
Quality
ICANDL saves the highest quality Facebook stores for the video, up to 4K when it was uploaded that way. If your phone is low on storage, the download may stop partway, so clear some space first when you save long videos.
Limits
Only public videos can be downloaded. Videos shared with friends only or posted in private groups won't load. ICANDL doesn't keep the files it processes. Keep downloaded videos for personal use unless the owner gives permission.
