How to use Audio Metadata Editor
- Choose a supported MP3, M4A or FLAC file up to 15 minutes.
- Enter the title, artist and album information you want to save.
- Save the metadata and download the updated file.
Tags and filenames serve different purposes
Music players can use embedded tags to display and organize recordings. Changing an artist or album tag does not rename the original file. Check the downloaded copy in the player where you plan to use it, because players interpret some tag fields differently.
Metadata support varies by format
MP3, M4A and FLAC use different metadata structures. The available fields depend on the processing engine and container. Keep a backup when a file contains artwork, custom fields or unusual tags; preservation of every existing tag is not guaranteed.
Frequently asked questions
Can editing tags improve audio quality?
Tags describe a recording. Updating them does not improve the sound, remove noise or restore missing audio detail.
Can I edit the tags in a WAV file?
This editor accepts MP3, M4A and FLAC. WAV tag support varies between applications and is outside this editor's accepted formats.
Will artwork and custom tags be preserved?
Preservation can vary by container and engine support. Keep the original and check artwork and custom fields in the downloaded copy before replacing a library file.
Where are the metadata changes processed?
The tool processes the selected file in your browser and provides a local download. Files must be 15 minutes or shorter, and successful processing depends on format and device support.
