FLAC to MP3 Converter

Make an MP3 listening copy of a FLAC recording up to 15 minutes long. MP3 output is lossy, so keep the original FLAC when you need a lossless source.

Choose a file

FLAC. Maximum 15 minutes per file. 100 MiB on desktop, 50 MiB on touch devices.

    Settings

MP3 and M4A use bitrate settings. WAV uses 16-bit PCM, OGG uses quality-based encoding, and FLAC uses lossless compression. Conversion cannot restore lost audio detail.

How to use FLAC to MP3 Converter

    1. Choose a FLAC file up to 15 minutes.
    2. Select the bitrate for the MP3 copy.
    3. Convert the file and download the MP3 output.

Keep FLAC as the source copy

FLAC stores audio losslessly, while MP3 reduces data using lossy compression. An MP3 copy can suit a storage limit or a player that needs MP3. Converting that MP3 back to FLAC later will not recover the discarded information.

Choose settings for the listening copy

Higher MP3 bitrates generally retain more detail and use more space than lower settings. Compare the output with the FLAC if quality matters for your use. The browser still needs enough memory to read and process the source within the 15-minute limit.

    Frequently asked questions

Is FLAC to MP3 a lossless conversion?

No. MP3 encoding is lossy regardless of the chosen bitrate. Retain the FLAC source for lossless storage or future editing.

Will a high bitrate MP3 match the FLAC exactly?

A higher bitrate can reduce audible encoding artifacts, but it does not make MP3 mathematically identical to the FLAC source.

    Are my FLAC files uploaded?

The conversion processes your selected file locally in the browser. The processing engine may need to download before the first conversion.

Why can a short FLAC file still fail?

A source may be damaged, unsupported by the engine or too large for available memory. The accepted duration is up to 15 minutes and does not guarantee device compatibility.
