Online Metronome
Set a tempo in beats per minute and use the clicks to guide practice. The metronome generates sound in your browser and does not need an audio file.
Settings
The first beat of each bar is accented. Keep this tab in the foreground. Stop before changing the tempo. Playback stops after 15 minutes or when the tab is hidden.

How to use Online Metronome
- Set the BPM and available beat pattern.
- Start the metronome and adjust your device volume.
- Practice with the beat, then stop playback when finished.
Pick a tempo you can play consistently
Choose a pace that lets you hear and perform the intended rhythm clearly. Adjust it as your practice requires. Accented beat patterns can help mark the beginning of a measure when that option is selected.
Keep the browser active during practice
The browser needs permission to start sound after your interaction. Device load, background tab policies and audio hardware can affect playback. Keep the tab active and check that the clicks are audible before relying on them for a practice session.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the metronome silent?
Press Start and check device volume, the output device and whether the tab is muted. Browsers generally require a user action before playing sound.
What does BPM mean on a metronome?
BPM is the number of beats per minute. The chosen beat pattern determines how the tool groups and accents those beats.
Can I keep it running in a background tab?
Some browsers throttle or suspend background activity. Keep the page active when consistent playback matters.
Do I need to select a recording?
No. The tool generates its own clicks locally. It does not accept media files, so the 15-minute file duration limit does not apply.
