MP3 to WAV Converter
Decode an MP3 recording into PCM WAV for an editor or a workflow that requires WAV. Choose a file up to 15 minutes long. This conversion cannot restore detail already lost in the MP3.
Choose a file
MP3. Maximum 15 minutes per file. 100 MiB on desktop, 50 MiB on touch devices.
Settings
MP3 and M4A use bitrate settings. WAV uses 16-bit PCM, OGG uses quality-based encoding, and FLAC uses lossless compression. Conversion cannot restore lost audio detail.

How to use MP3 to WAV Converter
- Choose an MP3 file up to 15 minutes.
- Review the available WAV output settings.
- Decode the MP3 and download the WAV file.
Prepare an MP3 source for a WAV workflow
Some audio editors and production workflows use PCM WAV. Decoding an MP3 to WAV gives them that format without another MP3 encode at this stage. The decoded signal still includes the limitations and artifacts of the MP3 source.
Expect a larger output file
PCM WAV stores uncompressed audio and usually uses more space than the source MP3. Its size depends on duration, sample rate, bit depth and channel count. A higher sample rate cannot recreate information that the source recording does not contain.
Frequently asked questions
Does MP3 to WAV improve audio quality?
No. WAV can hold the decoded audio without an additional lossy encode, but it cannot recover information removed when the MP3 was created.
Why is the WAV much bigger than my MP3?
PCM WAV stores uncompressed samples. MP3 uses lossy compression, so the same duration typically occupies much less space in MP3.
Can I convert by changing the extension?
Renaming the file does not decode MP3 audio into PCM WAV. Use conversion so that the file contents match the WAV format.
What limits apply to local WAV conversion?
Each MP3 must be 15 minutes or shorter. Processing uses browser memory, so a device may fail while producing a large uncompressed output.
