How to Download Facebook Videos on PC (Windows and Mac)
You don't need a desktop program or a Chrome extension to save Facebook videos on a computer. Copy the video address, paste it into ICANDL and the MP4 goes to your Downloads folder.
Updated
Search for a Facebook video downloader for PC and you'll find desktop programs and Chrome extensions that want access to every site you visit. Neither is necessary. Facebook videos can be saved from a normal browser tab, and the file ends up in the same Downloads folder as everything else.
Get the right link
On facebook.com, click the video so it opens on its own page or in the Watch player. The address in the browser bar is the video link. For Reels, open the Reel and copy the address the same way.
You can also click Share under the video and choose Copy link. Avoid copying the link of a whole post that holds several photos and a video, or of a profile. ICANDL needs the link of the video itself.
Download it
- Open the Facebook downloader in a new tab.
- Paste the link and click Download.
- Wait a few seconds while ICANDL reads the video.
- Click "Download Video + Audio".
The MP4 saves to your browser's download folder. On Windows that is normally the Downloads folder in File Explorer. On a Mac it's Downloads in Finder. The file plays in the Windows Media Player app, VLC and QuickTime, and you can drop it into any editor.
HD and 4K
ICANDL saves the highest quality Facebook stores for the video. Videos uploaded in Full HD come down in Full HD, and the rare 4K upload comes down in 4K. A video uploaded at low resolution stays that way.
Audio or a silent copy
"Download Audio Only" saves the sound as an MP3, which is useful for lectures, interviews and live streams you want to listen to later. "Download Video Only" gives you the video without sound, ready for a new voiceover. All three buttons come from one link.
If the download doesn't start
Check the bar at the top or bottom of your browser for a blocked download and allow it. If the video opens in a new tab and plays instead of saving, right click it and choose Save video as. If ICANDL can't read the link, the video is probably limited to friends, inside a private group or deleted. The guide Facebook video download not working covers each case.
Rights
ICANDL works with public videos only and doesn't store the files it processes. Downloading a video doesn't give you the right to publish it. Ask the owner first.
