How to Download Instagram Stories Online (Photos and Videos)
A Story disappears after 24 hours and Instagram gives you no button to keep someone else's. Copy its link while it is still up and ICANDL saves the photo or video to your device.
Updated
Stories are built to vanish. After 24 hours a Story leaves the profile, and Instagram has no button for saving one that someone else posted. If a Story has a recipe, a sale code or a clip you want to watch again, the way to keep it is to save the file while the Story is still live. ICANDL does that from the Story's link.
Copy the Story link
Open the Story in the Instagram app. Tap the three dots in the corner, or the share icon at the bottom, and choose Copy link. On a computer, open the Story on instagram.com and copy the address from the browser bar.
The link points to that one Story. If the account posted several, copy each link separately.
Download it with ICANDL
- Open the Instagram Story downloader in your browser.
- Paste the link into the box and tap Download.
- Wait a few seconds while ICANDL reads the Story.
- Pick the file you want.
A video Story shows three buttons. "Download Video + Audio" saves the Story as it plays. "Download Video Only" saves it without sound, and "Download Audio Only" saves the sound as an MP3. A photo Story shows a single "Download Original Photo" button.
If the Story has a caption, ICANDL shows it above the result with a copy button, so you can keep the text too.
Where the file goes
On Android the file lands in the Downloads folder, and most gallery apps pick it up from there. On iPhone, Safari asks where to save it. Choose the Files app, then open the file and use Share and Save Video (or Save Image) to put it in Photos. On a computer it goes to your usual download folder. The guide where downloaded videos go on iPhone and Android has the details.
Limits
ICANDL reads Stories from public accounts only. When a Story expires it is gone from public view, and the link stops working. Stories the creator pinned to a Highlight stay on the profile longer.
The tool does not store the files it processes. A Story belongs to the person who posted it, so keep what you save for personal use unless they agree to more.
