How to Download Instagram Videos on PC With Sound (Windows and Mac)

You don't need a desktop program or a browser extension to save Instagram videos on a computer. Copy the post address, paste it into ICANDL and the MP4 with sound goes to your Downloads folder.

Instagram on a computer has no download button, and the right click "Save video as" option is usually blocked. That leads many people to desktop programs and browser extensions that ask for access to every site they visit. You don't need either. A normal browser tab is enough to download Instagram videos on PC, with the sound included.

Find the video link

  1. Open instagram.com in your browser and log in if you want to browse your feed.
  2. Click the Reel or video so it opens on its own page. Reels open at an address that contains /reel/, posts at one that contains /p/.
  3. Copy the address from the browser bar. The Share icon (the paper plane) under the post also has a Copy link option.

If you copied the link on your phone, you can send it to yourself and paste it on the computer. It's the same link.

Download it

  1. Open the Instagram downloader in a new tab.
  2. Paste the link with Ctrl+V on Windows or Cmd+V on a Mac, and click Download.
  3. Wait a few seconds while ICANDL reads the post.
  4. Click "Download Video + Audio".

The MP4 lands in your browser's download folder. On Windows that's Downloads in File Explorer, and on a Mac it's Downloads in Finder. It plays in the Windows Media Player app, VLC and QuickTime, and it opens in editors such as CapCut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or iMovie.

Sound, silence or audio only

The result screen has one button per job:

  • "Download Video + Audio" keeps the sound. This is the one you want in most cases.
  • "Download Video Only" removes the sound, which helps when you plan to add a voiceover.
  • "Download Audio Only (MP3)" saves only the soundtrack.
  • "Download Audio as WAV" saves the soundtrack in an uncompressed format some editors prefer.

Carousels and photos

For a carousel post, paste the link of the whole post. ICANDL lists every photo and video separately, each with its own buttons. Photos save as full size JPG files; the carousel guide covers them.

If nothing downloads

Look for a blocked download icon in the address bar or the downloads panel and allow it. If ICANDL can't read the link, the account is likely private or the post was removed. ICANDL works with public posts only and doesn't store the files it processes.
